Recollections 3
The aim of this on-going project is to secure for the future, personal memories of Maldens and Coombe which although individual in nature will provide links and will, hopefully, rekindle thoughts of bygone time in some and re-ignite memories in others, leading to their contributing to the project. Local History is not solely what is written. It is what has been experienced and lives on in such thoughts of long (and not so long) ago.
We have published our first two booklets of Recollections: 'Monday was always Wash day' and 'Next to Sainsbury's was Sisley's' (see links below) and are currently in the process of compiling our third booklet.

MACHS Archive
The aim of the archive is to similarly secure for the future, electronic copies of Maldens and Coombe history, whether photos, old newsprint, guide books, etc. which people have kept and considered important or which people come across and do not wish to throw away. Julian scans the documents and hands the original back to the owner.

213 Bus Route

Amy Graham writes a blog and came to talk to the society earlier in 2013. She is researching a community heritage project on the 213 bus route between Kingston and Sutton in Surrey. The project covers all aspects of the route, not just the buses. Structures like bus stops and shelters, and also social history surrounding the route which includes businesses, schools, pubs etc. Amy would love to hear from anybody who has stories connected with this iconic bus and its journey.
