In 2014 there were a couple of articles in national and local press regarding Cyril Barton.In the Daily Mail 29th March 2014 was the article entitled "Still we insult their sacrifice" and in two Surrey magazines (The Elmbridge Lifestyle Magazine and The Farnham Magazine) there was the same article of Cyril's sisters' recollections. We have displayed both and offer thanks for their publishing. We do not intend any breach of copyright in displaying and will gladly remove if the presenting causes any concern. However, we in Maldens and Coombe are proud of all our heroes and we believe press cuttings should be shared to keep the story of both heroism and sacrifice alive. We have also included images of the Cyril Barton memorial at Ryehope Colliery and Barton Green Pavilion and the memorial plaque recalling Cyril's sacrifice.
