The Origin and Growth of New Malden
The following video is a 15 minute 'overview' on the growth of New Malden accompanied by Ravel's Bolero.(No copyright infringement intended in using this score).
Please note that, since this video was prepared, the strip of land alongside the station to Raynes Park, which previously one could not access as the video details, has been opened up as a walkway/cycle route known locally as 'The Beeline'. (Please note that, contrary to what you may hear/ read locally, Norbiton and Surbiton were NOT 'Bee-town' and Coombe has absolutely nothing to do with Honeycomb. The true history of the area is far more interesting than stories which are being made up for the town!)
The original water pipes (3 No 3ft (900mm dia) and 1no 4ft (1200mm dia) are still there, under the walkway/cycle path!
